A good short article with James Henry on what effect, if any, has Wolves being put up for sale had in the dressing room. Personally I would only make two observations…

1. I hope the only effect it seems to have had is that we win, and win by 3 goals so let’s hope that continues

2. Don’t focus on the top six but rather the top 2 places, if you don’t get into the top 2 then hopefully you will be in the top six, but if you focus on the top six and miss, then you are nowhere!

What a great day! We not only did it but did it by establishing a new record of 103 points, 2 more points than the last record!

This, I believe, shows that we are certainly worthy of the Championship League and hopefully we will not only be promoted but challenge for promotion next year! Don't get me wrong, I don't think we will make it to automatic promotion but I do believe we could make it to the playoffs.

As with many, the change of manager was hopeful, as per the view of most, the change has meant nothing. Therefore I can only conclude that it is not the manager that needs changing but rather the team, the players themselves as I suggested in my last write up, unless they change, unless they perform, unless they prove they are worthy to wear the shirt.

Living in Gibraltar means that we rely on televised matches to follow our club and the further down we go in divisions the less matches we get to see...I don't think any of the 1st division are shown so its back to rugby full time, perhaps, next season unless they believe.

Tonight's game is a rare opportunity to watch our Wolves overseas, even rarer as we are actually at home! Our last game, played on Sunday was not televised so even when we don't play at the weekend doesn't mean that overseas fans can get to see a game!

So tonight is a treat...or at least we hope it is. How many games without a win, how many losses, and struggling to survive in the Championship rather than fighting for automatic promotion!

I have said before that what we need is a few players to come in and take the reins, not one or two. One or two only means that they get sucked into the negativeness of the rest of the players. Alternatively we need them to believe, we need them to realise that they wear black and gold because they can, because they are able, because they have been chosen, because they do come out of the darkness and in the darkness we are now!

Come on boys, make the home crowd proud, make the overseas fans proud, be proud, you are Black & Gold, YOU ARE WOLVES!

Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-46590282789194085512013-01-08T22:07:00.001+01:002013-01-08T22:07:15.462+01:00Now is this worth writing about?I haven't written for sometime now...the reason...nothing positive to write about. Now there is hope and hope brings with it the possibility to be positive. A change, a serious change, and hope that this will be a new dawn for Wolves and all Wolves fans and, certainly, the ability to be positive, at least for a while!

Could this 'while' convert into medium, and god help us, long term positiveness? Or is it more likely to be the usual change followed by relegation? Could Wolves end up playing in the 1st division come August 2013? Could we build a space station on the moon? Lol I guess the answer to all these is yes and this is where 'hope' falters!

We needed a change, just as we did when MM was sent home (a mistake in my view without having a confirmed replacement), as its far easier to change the Manager rather than the team! However, I think there are two issues with the change this time round.

First it is a shame that the speed with which this change has happened didn't occur when we were in the Premiership. I do believe something had to give and easiest is to go for the Manager but, and this is a big but, Wolves should have had a replacement in line pretty much waiting with pen in hand to sign the contract and personally I feel Curbishley should have been that man! It's obviously easy for me to say this from the comfort of my home without any form of proving me wrong, wrong in the sense that Curbishley would have been wrong for the Club as we will never know, but hey we were in the Premiership, fighting for survival and we didn't have an incoming Manager! I pity Terry Conor as it was always going to be a lose, lose situation for a man who gave so much to this club.

Secondly, and with the utmost respect for Dean Saunders, is a non proven Premiership, even Championship Manager what Wolves need today?

Let me expand on that. I have always believed, and in fact to my expense, that the up and coming man should be given the chance, the chance to prove himself, to show his capabilities, to show he is able to perform at a level higher than he usually does. Basically to grow, to expand their business, their profile, to risk it and go for it. It is so easy for the 'coach potato' to laugh at another's attempts and failures but he will always be a coach potato! Worse still is when the little man is successful the coach potato suggests that is was 'luck' rather than drive, passion and desire! But is that what Wolves want, to give the little man a chance? With the greatest respect again to DS it does seem so. (Oh I do hope I have to swallow my words as DS proves me wrong! There's hope coming through and with it positiveness!)

Where am I going with this you may ask? Well I tried it with some building works at home and ended up losing money for supporting the 'little man', but is that what Wolves are wanting to do too? Wolves are a somewhat more serious issue than my loft conversion surely! Is the idea that if we get a non-premiership Manager we will find that rare individual who just happens to be the next Alex Ferguson? If that's what we are waiting for then, hey, we could have a long wait!

My personal opinion is that there are great Championship Managers, those who can get a club out of the Championship but not really keep them in the Premiership. These are the guys you want at Championship level, managers ready to fight tooth and nail to get their team up, managers with experience in this field, managers who do it all the time! Then there are managers who can keep a team up, mid table, fit for survival and with a little investment keep the team up. And then there are managers who, without millions, can keep their teams challenging for the top positions, these are the elite and not what I would expect Wolves to employ just yet! But at the very least a manager with a track record in the Championship Division and perhaps some Premiership experience!

If DS is not the next up and coming super manager then it's a lot to ask of him, having never managed a Premiership team before, to get Wolves up there. Don't get me wrong, I am hopeful, positive and willing that DS is the man, but realistically, without much money to buy top flight players? I was just as hopeful with Glen Hoddle, Dave Jones, Mick McCarthy and even Terry Connor (I hoped Terry would surprise all and sundry and prove to be that rare thing that is a great manager in the wings, waiting for the opportunity to prove themselves, but no, no again).

Top flight players, now that's the next issue! It's all very well looking at the managers and changing them but what's the common denominator here? Dave Jones got us up, Mick got us up, that's 2 managers since the beginning of the Premiership in 1992 everyone else in-between has failed and yet we change them? Should we not be looking at the players perhaps? What can a manager do if the players aren't able, capable, or willing? As I said before, it is easier (and far cheaper), to change 1 man than a number of them! Change the manager but what about the team?

Well that's enough from me...I hope, that in 2015, I will look back at this and think to myself what a complete load of rubbish I wrote! DS is the best guy we could have hoped for now that we are sitting mid table in the Premiership with the opportunity of getting into Europe! Steve Morgan certainly put his money where his mouth is, allowed DS to buy the players he needed and, wow, we are the team the top flight Clubs worry about and with respect, support and great positiveness for taking on DS I say WE ARE WOLVES....COME ON YOU WOLVES!Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-6458939329219459412012-09-23T10:09:00.001+02:002012-09-23T10:09:25.793+02:002nd win and another clean sheet!Oh yes...yes, yes, yes! Could we finally be on the road to success?
3rd win and a 2nd clean sheet on the trot and now lying 8th with only
3 points between us and the leaders immaterial of today's games.

Well done Wolves, well don Ebanks-Blake, Sigurdarson and Ikeme (for
the clean sheet) and of course the rest of the team. This is where
it's impossible for me to comment on their play as living in Gibraltar
and us being in the Championship means I don't get to see the
match...can only follow what's happening on twitter and blogs.

I can hope though and with some great football and a little bit of
luck we might just be back on the TV every weekend in the
Premiership...so come you Wolves, for all your overseas supporters,
lets get back up there!Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-22403858819568724622012-09-22T11:31:00.001+02:002012-09-22T11:31:52.563+02:00A clean sheetFinally a clean sheet and a win too!

So much sport has been on since I last posted, the Olympics, the Paralympics and a win for Andy Murray, now that's saying something....well done Andy! Team GB did any Brit proud in both the Olympics and Paralympics and to watch the passion, desire and want to win in these sportsmen and women was truly impressive. One that really stuck in my mind was Kate Walsh and her determination to continue, and then win the ladies hockey with a broken jaw! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19046505 You have to admit this does call into question the strength of many a footballer when they go down after tripping over their own feet!

Having said that, Wolves are finally managing to do something right, two wins and a clean sheet is starting to look good. I do like Stale's signing of Zubar, Nouble and Boukari and without a doubt Sako can he strike a ball or what, seems to be a good one, they all seem to want to win and work hard. With a little luck, as Stale said in his last interview, maybe it's our turn to have some, we could a few more wins in and the league?!

A win today against Peterborough could see us move right up the table and really give the opportunity to challenge for top spot come the end of the season. It is usually these games, the ones against the bottom team that hadn't won a game yet, that comes back to haunt us end of season. Normally I would say Peterborough haven't won yet but knowing our luck they will today, but yet today I feel that we could keep our game up and win...we always seem to play so much better against strong teams and then lose it all against the lesser teams, but not today, no not today.

Finally I must just say thank you to Terry Connor, what a position to find yourself in come end of a season. An impossible task...frankly very unfair to take a coach make him manager because you, the board didn't actually have anyone ready to step in, and then end his career at Wolves because he didn't manage to turn the team around! Laughable almost if it wasn't for the seriousness of a man losing his job!

Here's hoping we can make a 'run' of our success and win our third game...COME ON YOU WOLVES!

My prediction...Peterborough 1 Wolves 3 (hopeful?)
Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-33811611015989615812012-06-30T10:28:00.000+02:002012-06-30T10:31:21.196+02:00And the signings continueIt looks as if we are going for an all out strike force this season or there's going to be an exit of our current strikers which would be a shame! One thing's for sure, at least the squad is being revived and players will be fighting to get on the pitch, that has to be good news, hasn't it?

For further news on who's joined recently see here

I, for one, am looking forward to the start of the season, hopefully one where we win most of our games rather than wallow at the bottom of league and always upset after the game. I know this is a bitter pill to swallow seeing that we are not in the Premiership and of course fighting to remain at the top is always better but at least changes have been made, new signings on cards, and a new season ahead.

It's adopt, adapt and improve (as the RT slogan goes) time and with some hard work we hopefully will be back in the Premiership all that much stronger and wiser!

I just wanted to thank, (and apologise for not being able to meet), David who contacted me as he was visiting the Rock, and as a London Wolves fan, was hoping to meet up. Unfortunately his visit was over the long Jubilee Weekend which made it impossible for me.

I am hoping that with time this site will get more of the local Wolves fans talking so that we will meet up to watch a few games and perhaps, in the future, be able to meet the odd few visiting fans for a beer or two.

My other thanks must go to Paul who as Supporter Liaison Officer at Wolves has contacted me to offer support to local fans. Locals take note!
Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-27114044047669545542012-06-18T11:46:00.003+02:002012-06-18T11:48:20.148+02:00Local Football - Portsmouth, Notts County, Isle of Man & Channel Islands,

The local football scene looks to be busy this year with four big games schedules over the coming months, time to get out there and buy the latest Gib strip!

From the information I have (and therefore not written in stone so please check with the National Teams Website before making any plans to get to any of the games) the fixtures are as follows:

June 28 - Gib v Isle of Man
June 30 - Gib v Channel Islands
July 20 - Gib v Portsmouth
July 30 - Gib v Notts County
We are still in the Euro with England hopefully getting through by Tuesday night and the new season is upon us, starting on the 18th August, with the fixtures list released this morning

As an overseas fan being relegated to the Championship League is hard due to the lack of coverage, however, looking through the league itself I do have a number of mates supporting other clubs which will make it interesting for me and provide for some discussion time over a pint! These include Leeds, Brighton and Bristol.

So it makes the first and last game very interesting although I do hope that we are securely promoted before we play Brighton in May.

So COME ON EN-GER-LAND and WOLVES

Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-25222451688252160912012-06-03T11:04:00.001+02:002012-06-20T10:14:59.925+02:00And so it begins...Euro 2012 that is!Seeing as my son is doing his GCSE's and all I do now is think in 'grades' I will compare Roy's performance to my sons!

Practice is over, Roy Hodgson has passed his mock exams with A's but now will be tested fully.

I think Roy should be given A's as he has won both games and kept clean sheets although he could have got A*s had he beaten them 2 or 3 nil. Let's face facts neither team beaten play at France or Sweden's level!

These are far tougher teams with far better attacking abilities who will break through any defence at some point during any game so 1 goal may not be enough.

I am personally of the opinion that our biggest problem is the depth of the squad. Let's face facts every team will have injuries, the main difference is that most of the other bigger teams have strength and experience further down the squad.

My prediction is L L W just scraping through to make it, as is often the case with England!

Then who know, one thing is for sure we will need A* performances!Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2908358093487761297.post-69349155440609694542012-05-13T10:23:00.000+02:002012-05-13T11:07:09.773+02:00And so we face the final curtain...

So today is it, our last Premiership game, our last performance, no encore!

Back to the Championship next season, back to following Wolves via news articles, write ups, and tweets (this is a new one for me as the last time we were in the Championship League I didn't have Twitter!)

As an overseas fan one of the hardest things to relegation is not being able to watch any matches. Whilst we have been in the Premiership almost every match is televised and by tuning in to some very odd TV stations we, the overseas supporters, were able to watch almost every match. Now it'll have to be late night highlights! It'll be highlights knowing the score and due to time differences, it'll be very late, known, highlights!

So this makes relegation all the more sour. Of course it's not as bad as some clubs and their difficulties, Rangers for one and Portsmouth who are still unsure if they will be around much longer!

On that note should they still be around in the summer they are scheduled to play against GFA, that is the Gibraltar Football Association, yes, Portsmouth are scheduled to fly down to Gibraltar and play the Gibraltar national side!

On the up side we do have a confirmed new manager coming in, with respect to TC I think this really needed to be looked at and whilst I don't know much about our new gaffer we did really need someone to
come in and take control. I am really pleased to hear that TC is likely to stay on after all he has given a lot to Wolves and I bet has a lot more to offer.

Again on the up side we have a new stand which looks amazing and more importantly no serious financial difficulties, surely a big thank you is owed to Steve Morgan and Jez for that!

Also on the up side WE ARE THE WOLVES and I feel confident that next season will result in more wins than losses (makes for a better season) and more excitement as we go for the title and in doing so get promoted to the Premiership once again!

So to end our season a win would be great, one last success in the Premiership before we bow out, reflect and rebuild, and come storming back into the Premiership come end of next season!

COME ON YOU WOLVES!
Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02783974602450404200noreply@blogger.com0
